If you have seen “That Sugar Film” you will know how much added sugar there is in “healthy” foods sold in our supermarkets. Many muesli / granola bars might as well be biscuits or cookies, yet we snack on them thinking they are good for our bodies when in fact they should be eaten only on occasion as treats. These raw muesli bars are packed full of goodness and contain no refined sugar while the natural sweetness of dates still gives you a bit of a sweet fix.

As with all Isle of Flora recipes you can adapt them to suit your own tastes. Mix whatever seeds and nuts you like and come up with your own flavours. Make a chocolate muesli bar by adding a tbsp of raw cacao powder, or some lemon zest for a zingy lemon bar. Happy (healthy) snacking!

Ingredients

Instructions
  1. Line a 20cm x 20cm baking pan with baking paper or cling film.
  2. Add all of the ingredients, EXCEPT the seeds and water, into a food processor.
  3. Process until the dates are coarsely chopped - scrape sides as needed.
  4. Add the seeds and water and process until the mixture comes together.
  5. Press into the prepared baking pan and refrigerate for at least 45 minutes.
  6. Carefully turn pan over onto a chopping board and remove cling film (if used). Cut into bars, place into an airtight container and store in the fridge.
