It’s December and it’s finally Christmas season! To start Isle of Flora’s Christmas Recipe Series I’m sharing my tempting and perfect for sharing Raw and Healthy Chocolate Truffles. They are packed full of goodness but are still a decadent treat. They are naturally gluten-free and can be made dairy free. Simply roll, dust, dip and eat up.
Four chocolate truffle options
There are four types to choose from:
– Plain Raw and Healthy Chocolate Truffles, which can be dusted with extra cocoa
– Coconut rolled Raw and Healthy Chocolate Truffles
– Dark chocolate dipped Raw and Healthy Chocolate Truffles
– Coconut rolled AND dark chocolate dipped Raw and Healthy Chocolate Truffles (my favourite!)
The truffle low-down
The main ingredients of these raw and healthy chocolate truffles are dates, nuts, seeds, raw cacao / cocoa and coconut oil. They are naturally sweet and, depending on what chocolate you use for the choc dip option, are refined sugar free. All you have to do is mix all the ingredients together in a food processor, roll them up and refrigerate to set.
Simply choose your favourite truffle from the options above, make a combination of truffles, or choose which is best suited to your dietary requirements e.g. omit chocolate dipped if you want a healthier / refined sugar free truffle.
They are really easy to make so this is a great recipe for kids to get stuck into, and their handmade treats could then be given to their teachers or friends. Pack them up in pretty gift boxes and give them to your neighbours, work colleagues and friends. Or serve them up as an impressive dessert at your next party.
A versatile recipe that you can adapt to your own tastes. You could try using different nuts or even adding a tablespoon of minced fruit for extra Christmas cheer. If you try these raw and healthy chocolate truffles be sure to share your results on Isle of Flora’s Facebook page or comment below!
