A delicious starter perfect for any special occasion. Stalks of asparagus wrapped in bacon make a delicious combination of salty and sweet – meat and vegetables. These have been glazed in cranberry sauce to give them their wow factor, but if you don’t fancy cranberry sauce they are still finger-licking good without.
Asparagus wrapped in bacon is a great alternative to pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon), and you can choose how much bacon to wrap around these to reduce the fat. I used one streaky rasher per asparagus stalk, but you could easily cut a strip in half to use less.
The cranberry sauce gives these bad boys a sticky sweet glaze that works really well with bacon. These not only taste fantastic but they also look great on a plate, and the best thing is they are quick and easy to make!
This asparagus wrapped in bacon recipe serves 4 people as a starter and you can easily adjust it to serve more or less. Pile them up on a platter or plate and serve with extra cranberry sauce. They also cook well on the BBQ.
I bet these will be gobbled up in a flash! Save time and make your asparagus wrapped in bacon starter a day ahead, just warm them up in the oven before serving.
